Thoughts at random

Why isnt living a full life, devoting yourself to loving others, devoting yourself to loving the community around you, and devoting yourself to something that gives you purpose and meaning deemed as good as or better than being successful in studies. So what, you study hard, get good grades, achieve worldly status. But what good is status anyway? If you want to show off for people at the top, forget it, cause they will look down on you anyway. And if youre trying to show off for people below you, forget it aswell, they will only envy you. instead of bringing peace, joy, love and happiness to the world just like Jesus Christ told us to do, you brought feelings of envy to the world. Status will get you nowhere.

What do you want in life. More things? Right? You always want more. more is good, right? Go shoot yourself! Theres a big confusion about what we want and what we need. do you really need all this stuff? More money. More power. More status.
More qualifications. Do we really need all that? Or do you just want all that because the world has somehow put it into our minds that studying/competing/doing exceptionally "well" is a good thing. To a certain extent it is, it shows you accomplished more things and improved your mind, i guess.

I guess im still materialistic. But you have to be when youre studying. cause we all just HAVE to get the blady piece of paper called O LEVELS CERT.

a decade under the influence

A decade under the influence. The influence of music. Music, its so weird now. There are so many christian bands around, yet there are twice as many satanic bands. There are so many bands writing about bgr, its so old. There are so many bands using metaphores in their lyrics, its boring. The thing is, musicians have to keep coming up with something new. And thats what each and every band needs to do. No, dont say oh my band only plays emo cause were emo. Screw emo, what the hell is emo? If you say that, then youre not even a musician. Musicians are supposed to be wide, and play whatever they want to play, not whatever theyre supposed to play. They play to let their emotions come out with the music, not to get themselves seen as like cool or whatever. They dont label themselves or their band. Musicians supposed to be innovative and creative. We're not jukeboxes. You cant just play other people's stuff. You've got to be different to be recognized. In singapore we have so many bands. But most of them are conformists. They all conform to the genre they tell themselves they 'belong to' and that only narrows them. See the good bands, caracal and ava, all of them they have something unique to shout about. Not like some bands that just follow other people and play in their band just for the sake of playing the gutiar and hitting the drums cause thats the thing thats supposed to be the cool thing now. For many bands that actually focus on making music, sometimes they fall into that trap of being narrowed by genres and all that.Yes, influences are important, they shape the bands, but dont you all notice that all the professional bands out there sound different from each other? And all the bands that dont make it all sound the same?

Therefore, I have a dream. I'd like to come up with my own genre of music. I have two shots at that cause i have two bands. What a decision i have to make.
So in order to fulfil that huge dream of mine, i'll have to learn a hell lot more about music, and the instrument i play.
